Or... Pro-gel grips getting baked off...
So I was running my heated grip elements on high for about 20 minutes the
other weekend and now noticed my throttle grip is coming loose (i.e.
unglued). Has anyone else experienced this? I am using grip glue.

Hey Greg,
It is my understanding that grip glue is only for regular grips. And when I
got my "Hot Grips" it specifically insisted on 24hr. epoxy-------not quick
or 5 minute. I have put on several sets using the 24 hr. stuff as suggested
and never had a problem.

Did you safety wire the grips? I have under grip heaters installed with no
glue, just the wire. I've had no slippage even in heavy rain, mud bogs,
water holes ETC.

Use the Force Luke... If'n they got them, put them wire grooves to use.
My 737's fit the throttle side perfect, but the clutch side seemed,
well loose towards the end of the bar, so I used the 2 outer grooves
and some safety wire applied with my spinner pliers whichamagiggy.

Have been reading about using safety wire to help secure grips, and am curious how ya'll position the twisted end to keep it from tearing up your hands/gloves? That's gotta hurt.

Leave a pigtail of about 3/8". Use a needlenose to bend the end
so it digs into the grop, preferably down in the wire groove. Then
It can't dig into your hand. It also helps to make the twist on the
bottom of the grip, away from your hand.

That's what I thunked, but figured I'd ask anyway - JIC - others were wondering too. It's the Tech Ed in me.

Much thanks.
