Like Fred said to an earlier post, just make sure the pads are seated
properly and meet your rotor flush and not at an angle. Since your rotor is
new, you should also verify how true it is as installed.
Bedding in brakes takes some time, and I don't believe it's very important
the technique you use. Two things to keep in mind are: don't do too much
braking in too short a time which may cause heat build-up, and: until they
are fully bedded in and you are confident in their stopping ability, don't
ride around cagers or in town.
Taking your time to not overheat, should take no more than an hour or so.
I don't have a fork brace, but it makes sense that riding surface
transmission to your hands would increase. Comes with the territory.......
