Interesting views and comments. While we are both supportive of our police officers, I do not condone the above actions nor the actions stated by others in this thread. Sure, bikes are high theft targets, but gee, so are automobiles. And I belive some drug runners use automobiles, too. So all bikes and all automobiles should be stopped? I don't think so. I'll pass on that "favor". If I am doing nothing wrong, I should not be pulled over for the way I look or the vehicle I am driving. I'm sure we've all heard of "profiling" and the troubles some police departments have encountered because of the practice. "Investigate Reasons". Please. "Fishing". Chris, You obviously overlooked the fact that there was a violation. All cars and motorcycles are not pulled over because all of them are not in violation of the law. I really can't get down on the law in general for the actions of one officer. As many times as I have been pulled over by an officer with no latitude in his attitude I've been pulled over many more times by an officer that gave me a break - as a kid, after running my plate the officer came back and said shit, you got three violations in 9 months and since its log I can't let you off but we'll make it for 5 over so you can keep your license but I suggest you learn to either slow down or learn to spot us from a mile off. I can also understand how a truly bogus stop pisses anyone off. Last December on my way to work a car pulled out in front of me. Had enough time to see an empty lane on my left and veered from harms way. Wouldn't you know that a County Mountie was coming the other way just as this happened and he pulled me over. Didn't have time to get my helmet off before I was getting the lecture on how I had failed to use my turn signals in the middle of an emergency maneuver. He asked for my license, saw a 1954 birth date, handed it back saying sorry, I thought you were someone else and he got in his cruiser and took off. I'm still trying to figure out why being 48 suddenly excused whatever the offense was that lead to getting pulled over?
