Hi, I have been monitoring the list for awhile and learning alot about my new (to me) 1996 KLR 650. I love the bike and looking forward to doing more off roading on it. I was hopeing to pickup a pair of mx boots on ebay, but I get the feeling that mx boots are sized very large. Is that true. So if I wear a size 9 street shoe should I be thinking about a size 8? I hope this is not a dumb question, but I have read they run large in general. Mick the sun is finally out in Stillwater OK 96 KLR 650

Welcome to the asylum.

Actually I would recommend that you do the opposite and buy a size larger. This'll allow you to fine tune the fit with old sneaker insoles. I know that depending on the weather, I'll either have one or two extra insoles in my boots. When it's cold outside you can pull all of them out and be able to fit that extra pair of wool socks. I discovered this by accident when my size 14 alpinestars turned out to be more like size 15's, but I had bought them on closeout from Brockton Cycle (http://www.brocktoncycle.com) for $75, so I couldn't return them. Apparantly this is an old trick, and it ended up working out perfectly for me. Z DC A2 A5 A11

I pretty much agree with Zach, always heard they were bigger so you can wear thick boot socks with them. Definately would not go smaller than shoe size. Mick, Welcome to the "assylum", (otherwise known as the KLR list) from another Okie. Can't speak to the newer boots (mostly plastic?), but my older (Alpinestars) leather MX ers are 10 1/2 and I usually wear a 10 in a street shoe. Hope this helps. Zach, I too found the Alpinestars to run a little large. I posted earlier that my old leather boots were a size 10 1/2, but the boots and I are both so old I'm no longer sure, they could even be size 11. I bought those boots in '72 while testing Suzuki 185 DS bikes for Uncle. They saw use 5 or more days a week for almost 2 years before being retired to "regular" duty. I did have extra soles and heels put on over the factory soles when they were new. Lew Waterman saw these antiques on his visit and couldn't believe how long they have lasted. Great value for the money. Marshall in Shreveport, La '95 KLXC3 "Blackhorse" (to honor those who served) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

these horrid Lies. The Boy Scouts of America have created many upstanding and successful young men. I intend to Scout master or Assistant when my son is old enough to join. There has never been a better institution for putting out high quality men from a group activity. It also is fairly successful in keeping your kid off of drugs.

Belaboring the obvious, but reread your previous post.
