Any among you who ride your bikes more than you write about riding
your bikes should consider this upgrade sooner rather than later.
I've had two KLR's and suffered the same failure on both. Just lucky
all the metal was caught in the oil sump and the chain didn't jump
off the sprocket destroying my lower case either time.
On the `91 I used a factory part for the repair. On the `99 I decided
to try Jakeman's fix. Don't call Jakeman a technician. Refer to him
as an artisan. I had to wait for the part to be made, but it was
worth it. On inspection of the newly arrived package I said to my
wife, "If the fit is as good as the finish I'll have no complaints."
The fit was every bit as good as the finish. Mr. Hink sold me a
puller bolt and shipped it hot (grats to Mr. Hink). Three days and it
arrived on the porch. An hour and a half (2.5 beers) after the bolt
was unwrapped I was lapping the school parking lot across the street
and listening for new noises.
I have nothing but compliments for Jakeman's pride of workmanship,
and for Arrowhead's rapid response. Trade with these men and keep
them in business. Customer service, craftsmanship, and love for the
work are all but gone in the motorcycle business. These guys are a
dwindling breed.
...And the beast is most happy to be thumping again.
Thanks,
Scott

rosen's rides to copper canyon, mexico

I did the Pancho Villa 10-day Sierra Madre tour in '97. It included Copper Canyon (two nights in Batopilas) and I had a great time. Lots of fine motorcycling roads, both paved and dirt. Haven't done a Rosen's ride, but I've heard good things about them. If you have qualms about going it alone in Mexico, a guided tour is a good intro. __Arden> Anybody ever go on one of these tours?
