Hi all,
I'm posting this for my list-deprived buddy with a 450 Nighthawk.
His bike started leaking gas after we started it up in the spring.
The gas is leaking through a rubber tube that comes off the bottom of
the float bowl on the right carb. The reserve/on/off valve seems O.K.
Ant ideas?
Thanks in advance,
John in T.O. A11

Check the floats and or the jet that works with is. I the idea is just like a
toilet tank.

(You won't see it on the filter, or before the filter, because the
breather hooks into the airbox after the air filter. Worth a look.)
Very true. The guys have covered mostly what i know about the xt
series. Wheelstands would dump oil into the air box also. I modified
a few by running the breather tube to the end of the rear fender.
These engine saw a lot of duty on short tracks down here in
louisiana. I had one (XT 500) that I had put Norris TT2 cams, 11.5:1
Piston 521CC kit, SR intake valve, 36 mikuni round slide and Torque
Master exhaust on. Laced in a 19" front wheel and it was a good
cutup bike that ran 13.95s and 6s in '79 and '80. Little did I know
I had built a forerunner to the KTM Duke ha ha ha........
