I had a KLR in my shop a while back that had the tall Kawasaki windshield. The windshield was mounted using the top three nuts mounted just like the OEM windshield, which left the top a bit loose. He didn't have the two lower tabs bolted down. This gave the windshield three adjustments for angle or height of the screen. Pretty simple mods make a big difference. carburetor trouble

Hello. this is my first time posting on this board. I bought my very first bike in April of this year. It is a 1999 KLR650. I haven't hadn't had any problems with it until just recently. There was a piece of plastic of some sort caught in the carburetor which caused the carb to flood cause the needle would not close properly. I took that out. Now the engine doesn't flood but whenever I try to open the throttle, it dies on me. I thought it was the diaphragm, so I checked it out, and it is correctly in place with no punctures. Also checked out the air/gas mixture, and it is set to 1 7/8, which was mentioned in the manual. The bike works ok when it's on choke, but when it warms up and I close choke, the bike won't accept any operation of the throttle. Thanks for helping out. Daniel Montreal,Canada
