Anyone used this tire? I'd like to know what others think of this one. I'm especially interested in how it works on gravel roads.
Here's a link to a site with a photo of it:

I've got a set on my KLR and like them. I haven't ridden gravel, but
they hold pretty well on the fireroads in SoCal. Not a bad street
tire, either, and no singing like the IRC GP110.

Yeah the mud terrains on my truck, they love gravel so much they hold
on to it as long as possible in all of the little grooves, clickity-
clickity- clickity while you go down the road.

My favorite tires on the KLR so far are the Pirelli MT70's. They're
discontinuing them, so I gotta move on. Seems the Enduro 3 Sahara is
similar. I've had a rear one on order for over a month now. Apparantly, the
US distributor is waiting for them, so getting one now may be difficult. I'm
hoping it comes 'round soon, cuz the Kenda 270 on there now is getting thin.

Felipe,
If you are just talking about a packed gravel road, the Enduro 3
Saharas will do great. Avon distanzias will do just fine. If you are
talking 3 foot deep loose gravel, get the Dunlop D606. Generally
speaking, any tire claiming to be Dual Sport can handle a packed
gravel road. There are many tires much cheaper than the Metzelers. I
think the Metzeler advantage is how well they work on the highway
(6000+ mile life)while still handling pretty rugged offroad
conditions. They are 4x the cost of 4000+ mile K270s though.

Chaparral has an old 17" Dick Cepek tire called "terraflex" that comes
pretty damn close. It's fecking HUGE and there's no way it would fit the
KLR. The Cheng Shin 5.60x17 is another bad MoFo to look at.

1) $171 for a 130/80 17 Sahara 3?!?!? Are they out of their freakin'
minds?!? Check MAW or Dennis Kirk or any Tucker Rocky dealer and you
find that they are AT LEAST $50 cheaper with freight.
2) Mileage is subjective, if you run 80+ on asphalt for long
stretches - they'll wear much quicker, if you run mostly dirt or
gravel - they wear like iron. I have always gotten at least 7000 mi
out of my rear Saharas (mostly dirt and gravel), on the other hand,
I know of a couple of riders that have gotten only 2000 mi out of
them (more high speed asphalt than I care to do). I had gotten a
rear Avon Gripster to try, it wore the same as the Sahara in the
same conditions, but it handled like rhinoceros pizzle.
