rad shrouds

Post by dbocz » Fri Apr 05, 2002 1:52 am

Can anyone tell me if there are any after market rad shrouds for the KLR A models...OEM are very expensive to replace and are there only for looks....not much protection. I know about "rad guards" but the tabs on my OEM shrouds are off... do you think there is a market for alum. shrouds,,,or would they stress the fuel tank ?? Any ideas??? Doug

If you can find a low mileage example then you should be fine. Just don't expect to be able to bolt a 650 power unit straight in, the 650 was based on the 600 design but there are some external differences. 600 parts are not nearly as common as 650 bits. OTOH, 600s have much more radiator area, have a smaller tank and slightly wider ratio spread. There should be no difference in durability, I have acquired about 50,000 miles on a 600.
