You and I are like on a parallel path right now or something, I left work early and stopped at the dealer to pick up some new grips to match my seat (blk/yellow for both) on the green/silver looks hot. Anyway I asked about the V Strom and the sales guy was "very" helpful, they had a silver one for $8,999. He said they sold 2 blue one this last weekend after guys went for a ride. He then dangled the keys, and I went. I was limited to 15 miles but it is great bike, with some real street tires like Pilots or some such it would be like a big SV650. It is tall I had a little more foot the ground than KLR (also 5'10") but not much. The big hole front on the tank was a little disturbing and the heat shields (3 or 4)on the exhaust look kind of cheesy, those suckers are long, but it sounds good. No hard cases yet either, was told maybe by July. He actually offered me what I'd thought I'd sell the KLR for to a private party as a trade, $4300 plus full retail of the new grips. Tempting but it would have to be another 2nd bike. But based on that I think they would deal at bit on the price or their eager to get a KLR in, they haven't had one for a couple of months I guess. Yesterday being my 12th wedding annversary, and my wife is waiting for me to tell her what I want maybe I found it(I'll have to convince her that bikes are the traditional 12th gift for guys and emeralds for her). Aprilia Capo Nord are due in next week so I'll wait and try one of those as well. I always wanted to be a real dirt poser;-).

The Strom has caught my eye, too. With a Givi rack and a Hawkeoiler, it would save me about 6 grand and 160 pounds off of the ST-1300 I've been waiting for for the past 8 months. Not sure what it is, just something about it appeals to me. Everyone says the engine is one of the best in the industry. It was longer than I expected, with a surprisingly big 'chest' (front fairing). The size, to me, appears to be forward of the engine, rather than high like on the R1150GS and the Tiger. I can't imagine taking one on a wet fire road, though. Jett
