I just replaced the rear stocker on my bike. I have a couple of hundred miles on it. I like it. It does alright on dirt rodes. Horrible on wet grass, but few do well here. I changed it my self and found it to be pretty easy to do. I could not find the yellow stamp that signifies the light spot on some tires. It seems to be balanced well though, at least up to 90mph which is as fast as I've had it with the new rubber, and as fast as I'll ever need to go. I think my milage has increased a bit since the change too. I went with the 140/30/17. It fits well and allowed me to go back to the stock front sprocket. Joe A-12"blue Goose"

Getting ready to do a long trip this summer... I am getting the KLR ready to go and in doing so ordered a set of Gripsters from USAMoto.com. They were not able to obtain the Gripsters but substituted the Distanzia tires for basically the same price which is 10%off list of the Gripsters. I have no idea whether this is a good price or not but I saw quite a few posts on tires of late and thought I would throw this in if anyone is interested in the Distanzias. Yeah, I'm interested in what people think of the Distanzia as well. I'm also considering a set of Michelins: Michelin T66X and T66 Dual Sport Tires http://www.accwhse.com/photos/michelin_t66.gif Michael A11

I put the Distanzia's on during this winter. (Well, the dealer did.) I only have about 200 miles on them because the snow and freezing rain started up again just when I thought it was all over with, but I liked them. The Distanzia's are tubeless also, you just use tubes. I got the Moose heavy duty 21" front, and Metzler 17" rear tubes from Fred... Wise men still seek Him... If you want a great "road" tire for the KLR, look at the Metzeler Tourances. Much, much better handling on the road and quieter to boot. My local shop was willing to match the mailorder price from one of the major catalogs. Don't worry about them being tube or tubeless, you can still use the tube. Ralph Ralph E. I mounted a 3.25 front on the KLR(ratzilla) last month and have about 500 miles on it now. The handling was different with the new bigger tire. Today I moved the fork tubes up 1/2 inch in the triple clamps and took it for a ride. It really made a difference. I can push it hard on pavement and it corners well. The tires seem to stick well on dry pavement at good lean angles. I like the tires. These must be a kick to run street tires on. About modifying our bikes. When I bought RATZILLA it came with IMS cleat foot pegs ,Aceribis high fender and a super trap. The carb had been jetted and fork springs had been changed. I added a Moose bash plate and heated grips. I never had a stock KLR so I wouldn't know what I am missing but I like this bike with the mods that have been made. Tom
