Hello listers,
Anyone out there sagacious enough to know the bolt dia. and thread
pitch for a 93(A7)KLR? flywheel puller? --- 21mm?, 22mm?? 1.5?,
1.25?, 2.5 ???
I live in St. Paul MN, which is about an hour (1way) from Dennis
Kirk. I drove up there and bought a Motion Pro puller that indicates
is fits the KLR 650 (20mm x 1.5) which it does not. How can Motion
Pro
and/or Dennis Kirk have this misinformation??
I could order the Kawi puller, but it'll take 2-3wks. Again, I
live
in Minnesota and the riding season is gonna be ending soon. I've
spent
the whole fkn' summer workin on that bike. I haven't riden all year.
Am I wrong or does it seem Kawasaki does everthing it can to
discourage owner performed maintenance by deliberately employing
obscure fkn' tools and components you can only get from them?
The aftermarket scene is much better for Honda. I love the KLR, but
because of this crap, I'm starting to wish I bought an XL.
Please help,
Jaime in MN.

Does any one have a flywheel puller they would like to sell that
would fit an A1. Fred doesn't have them in right now and he'll be
gone this week and I would like to get going on it. Thanks

I'm trying to get into my KLR650 motor to change out the balancer
sprockets. It's not clear what puller I need to get for the flywheel.
I ordered one from DK and it's too small. Chaparral lists two
diferent
ones, one for $7 and one for $8 (same brand). Anyone know what works?
It appears to be 24mm x 1.5mm thread.

I ordered the flywheel puller and wrench from Fred. I pulled the
right side cover and an ready to us them to do my Pre-96 upgrade.
The puller is just a large bolt.
My question is, Can I use it alone or do I need to buy a puller to
screw it into. If I do any does or don'ts on what to buy.

Yeah, simple looking isn't it, no need for anything additional. After
you remove the nut from the flywheel, you just run the puller in and
it pushs the the wheel off the shaft. Watch the key when the flywheel
comes off, don't want to lose that.

...is a GO. Ultimate destination is Florida (for those who don't already
know).
Leaving tomorrow around 7AM and heading out I-10. Planning to reach Phoenix
Monday night. Hopefully on Tuesday I'll get together with one or more people
(Steve?) and check out some of the local trails.
Anybody between Phoenix and Florida who wants to get together and ride, leave
me a message at 949-636-3138. Even if it's only to share a beer and discuss
tires, oil level, and tensioner doohickies.

PS. Call me dammit! I'll re-route (a little) to meet up for a ride. This
especially goes for anyone in North Florida. I wanna ride my KLR up and down
the beach in Daytona at 10mph while helmet-less and barefoot. Because I can.
