I can't imagine using a tank bag effectively on a KLR. If you load one up...have it slip slightly towards you...then try to put your feet on the ground!!!! You may find there is not enough room for you to slide forward. Bottom line...no flames please...this could be potentially dangerous. My KLR tankbag is on a shelf collecting dust because of this very problem. A nice tailbag will get the job done. Ride safe!!!! Thanks Bill, I appreciate your observation. I recently moved to the KLR from a big Sport Tourer (Honda CBR1000F) so this is all new to me. Good to hear from those who have been there and tried that. Are there any decent-sized tail bags (20 Liter +) that convert into backpacks? 50 Ohm 'tis. You should use good cable though, as the GPS signals are up pretty high, about 1.5GHz (1500MHz). Garmin actually sells (sold?) a length of cable with a suction cup to hold the antenna. Maybe a better option is to use a remote antenna. The actually have little amplifiers in them that are powered by the GPS receiver, and when placed properly they work extremely well; often much better than the one with the unit. They are intended to be used on a ground plane, but the difference without is pretty negligible. My own personal favorite is the Mighty Mouse II by Tri-M: http://www.tri-m.com/products/tri-m_systems/mm2.html Street price for these is about $60-$70 if I recall correctly. These really help automotive use; in fact I consider them essential in cars to prevent occasional dropout and significantly improve accuracy. When I use the Mighty Mouse II in my car I can download a track and usually tell which side of the road I was on! Steve A. in AZ
