Someone has saddle bags made from ammo boxes. Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&item=1807065028&r=0&t=0 Cool Idea...but those corners would probably hurt.

I have some ammo cans, and I had thought about it. I think mine are just a bit smaller, I don't think they are 20mm cans. Actually, I envisioned mounting them a little lower than the ebay pic shows. bb

I think the idea is ok, but these metal bags are heavy and all of the weight suspended by the stock rack may not make sense. All of the aftermarket bag mounts pick-up another mounting point at the passenger footpeg bracket for a good reason. I don't thing these would safely hold a heavy load or when you inevitably dump it, they might not holdup. It might be wise to further modify them with a wraparound piece of tubing to connect both bags together. Also the weight is carried high on the bike. Any thoughts out there from the engineers on the site? Tom '01 A15
