"1995 was the last year the KLR650 was capable of having the optional kickstart installed. Modifications to the clutch basket of the later year bikes made the kickstart incompatable. It would be a pretty tedious task if you could even find the parts. There arte different starter gears in the older models (pre 95) that allowed the kickstart to be added. The kickstarter kit is no longer available from Kawasucki so you'd have to get it from a salvage yard or find it used elsewhere. dat brooklyn bum> >
Also, I've got a 95 and it would be nice to have a kick-starter. The reason I never got one is that based on reports on the list ( years ago ) apparently they're so hard to use that they're practically useless. Not true, I have a '93 KLR 650 with a kickstart and it kicks over and starts no problem. Bogdan did you get your motor back yet?
