Morning, Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I noticed my new 02 KLR has blue antifreeze in the overflow tank. Manual says it should be green. In all the years I've been working on vehicles I've never seen blue antifreeze. Just wondering if it's some brand I've not heard of or if the dealer/factory put in the wrong stuff. Thanks Cliff 01 BMW R1100S 02 KLR 650 BTW, enjoy the KLR enough that I've decided to minimize and sell the BMW.

Maybe it's time to get the ol eyes checked, Cliff. :D My '00 came with Green, I guess it's how the dealer preps it. Maybe it is blue ? Just like the new paper money the good ole US Mint has been printing, right cliff ? ;-) My 01'- A15 has Green Stuff in it, and kinda wondered if it was special stuff or just plain old Prestone that I like so much. Planned on using Prestone, so if it is special stuff hope somebody speaks up prior to me flushing the cooling system. ;-) Duden A15 Pilot

I would recommend using the non-silicate type of anti-freeze. Easier on the water pump seals. Jack Tollett Waltz Across Texas Rally http://www.waltzacrosstexas.org AiaP #1 "Life is too short to live in Dallas."

Noticed the it cooled better last summer, All my bikes seem to cool better once i change the coolant, All except my Ascot. Mike

Water dissapates heat better than coolant. You can use just Distilled water but it has a lower boiling point though so It could be bad in traffic. Water wetter and distilled water is the best IMO. Can you make your own distilled water by boiling it and then letting it cool, or do you have to buy it? If so, where can you buy it from? Thanks! --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. So? Add some yellow. :-) Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it. -- David Kelly N4HHE, dkelly@... ===================================================================== The human mind ordinarily operates at only ten percent of its capacity -- the rest is overhead for the operating system.
