Well, last night was pretty frustrating, and I wore my a$$ out
changing a tire of all things.. I got two new tires yesterday and
didn't start putting them on until about 10pm, now don't give me a
hard time about taking 5 hours to change 2 tires because i wasn't
JUST doing that, I have 8 kids and had to get a bottle for this one
change that one answer 50 questions for my little helper ( my 5 y/o
girl is an aspiring KLR mech.) OK so by 1130 I had the front tire
DONE, was pretty easy, now the rear that's where I had the problems,
started out when I went to that out the valve stem and my little
plastic valve stem tool from the slime stripped, then had to look for
my little jewelers screwdriver that i used as a valve stem tool.. ok
got it out now to start jumping in the tire, I used both feet in all
combinations of how you could push that damn thing down off the bead
in combination with the tire irons, soapy water .. You name it, I
tried it.. NO Luck, so I finished off the bottle of blue label
Schmirnoff I had and tried for another hour, still no luck, ok I am
getting pretty pissed now, where's my Dremel, push the tire down as
much as I can and start sawing with my dremmel at the "Bead, sparks
go everywhere as i busted it, pop there it goes, ok now it should be
easy right? WRONG, now i have one side off but can't get the other
side off now.. So I pulled the tube out and just started hacking away
at that tire with my dremmel pop got the next one.. huck that tire
across the garage.. New one goes on without a hitch, took about 65psi
to pop the bead on my new rear Kenda.. Put both wheels on the KLR
it's 330 am i am beat.. get up this morning and and straighten the
rear wheel out, tighten everything down, off to work I go.. What a
pain in the ass, next time I will splurge the 8 bux to let some shmoe
do it at chap for 8 bux..

You're not experimenting with Methane Power, are you? Are you sure that
the smell was coming out of the bike?
out of my bike. I inspected the tank, petcock, lines and carb and there are no visual signs or wet areas anywhere. >> he said it smelled like I had a gas leak. Really strong gas smell coming

Having tried that in the past the clamp slides off when you try to pinch the tire carcass. If the clamp is big enough you can put it thru from the spoke side so when the tire slopes the C in the clamp hits the inside of your rim and holds the pinchers in place. -- David Kelly N4HHE, dkelly@... ===================================================================== The human mind ordinarily operates at only ten percent of its capacity -- the rest is overhead for the operating system.> Well I have an idea, yet to attempt it however, > > A Large "C" Clamp should provide enuff squeeze to pop the bead, > simular to a bench vise I suspose, but alot cheaper to buy.
