Howzit guys,
Been lurking mostly for the past few weeks, but now I need your opinion. Last week my buddy and I rode around the island and he ate my exhaust most of the way, anyway, he said it smelled like I had a gas leak. Really strong gas smell coming out of my bike. I inspected the tank, petcock, lines and carb and there are no visual signs or wet areas anywhere. I have a DynoJet kit installed along with K & N and Big Gun. Do you think the carb is running rich? If so, what do you suggest I set the screw at? Right now it is at 3 1/2 turns(per DynoJet instructions). Much Mahalos, Aloha-Eric

Which jet and what needle clip position?

Possibly, but I can't smell it from here.
Have a look at the spark plug and see what its colour is like.
Try adjusting the idle mix for highest smooth idle and then see how
far it is different from what the pilot screw is now.

How do we know he knows what a gas leak smells like?
A healthy de-smogged gasoline engine exhaust has a sharp, sweet, odor of
ketones. Nothing like the smell of raw gas. Nothing like the smell of a
catalyst equiped automobile.

Take a look at the color of your plug, it will tell all.
Black = too rich
White = too lean
Tan = right where you want it
Setting the screw will only effect idle and very low throttle conditions.
If I were you, I'd be concerned with the needle and the main jet.
Also, make sure your choke (to be precise, the enrichner) is fully
releasing.
Mine got stuck on last summer and was beating me head against the wall until
I figured it out.
Jetting is as much as an art as it is a science. Be prepared to open your
carb more then once.
With that said, I doubt jetting is your problem. When my choke was stuck, I
was running so rich, I'd foul a plug in 30 miles. Didn't smell like gas. An
engine running fat does have a distinctive smell, but I would not describe
it as gasoline.

A methane powered KLR......Now that's enough to stir the heart of any
inventor. I'll approach a friend of mine with that idea. He claims to have
invented a rectal harmonica. He could never get more than three notes at a
