stem bearing wrench

Does anyone have a good idea for a stem bearing wrench? I used a screwdriver to tap-tap it tighter but had a hard time "feeling" the true tightness of the nut. If the Kawaski tool is low $$ I'll go that way but I am thinking there must be a universal wrench available from somewhere. I don't recall seeing them in catalogs though. Thanks, Brad __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! Personals. http://personals.yahoo.com

Harbor freight has a spanner wrench set for $15 that fits the bill. Jake at jake_sagebrush@..., as well as others on the list make their own - I however am not allowed to make anything, or to play with sharp objects or power tools - and was thus forced to buy the spanners (which have worked well). i used the tap tap method a couple days ago and it worked well. you're not going for the tightness feel of that nut anyway, but rather the feel of the bars/steering head tightness. make it a hair too tight then loosen it up a hair ( 8^) )...

Brad- A cheap and availible alternative would be to stop by your local bicycle shop and see if they carry Park bicycle tools... I know that Park makes a spanner wrench for bottom brackets that should almost perfectly fit the KLR headset nut as it is very thin, unlike the Harbor Frieght ones where you have to pull the top triple up a bit to get the wrench in there (I think this is the one: http://www.parktool.com/tools/HCW_12.shtml) Good luck. ------------------ Zack Banana Republic of Washington, DC KLR650X A5/C2 "Buster" | KLR650A2 | ZG1000A1 | KZ440A2 | 1966 Vespa 125 COG #4664 DCDS #1

I was going to say this. I'll add that it should be turned in small increments, like 1/8th turn at a time (or less). RM
