nklr: fork braces and books

Post by JANickols@aol.com » Thu Oct 25, 2001 5:54 pm

Hello KLR Land: For you fork brace shoppers take a look at the Telefix Brace. Its made by Weigl out of Germany and peddled in California by Spec II. $129.00 plus tax and shipping and one heck of an engineering project. Its also passes German standards for after market gear. TUV? or some such. It doesn't interfere with fork gaiters. I don't think any of them do. You scootch the gaiter up and clamp the device around the fork; the gaiter is then clamped or zip tied to the fork brace. Next The Guggenheim Museum's book is called: "The Art of the Motorcycle." (Las Vegas Bike Show book) ISBN 0-8109-6912-2 (hardcover) ISBN 0-89207-207-5 (softcover) The hardcover in Las Vegas was $65.00 or $75.00, soft cover about $35.00. It is heavy, plan on shipping the sucker home. FWIW, I wrote the other day I thought the first motorcycle was a Daimler, wrong. The first "bike" is or was ...a Michaux-Perreau Steam Velocipede, 1868, France. They had one (or a replica) at the show. Some of the really old bikes are replicas or bits rebuilt to the same spec's as new. Hope this helps. John KLR 600 B-2 L Ez Kwak [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
