what is this strange sound?

Post by Tandy K. Bozeman » Sat Oct 13, 2001 10:16 am

Help Guys (and Gals) I've got a 89 KLR650 with 25K (original clutch) which lately has developed an interesting sound. At speed when I close the throttle going downhill I hear a rhythmic clicking/scraping sound from somewhere around the engine. It sounds a little like the chain bouncing and slightly scraping. Sound only happens when the throttle is closed and bike "riding" on the engine. Open throttle even slightly and sound goes away. Sound is not loud but can be heard at speed with helmet on and old AF ears. Anyone have any idea? Cheers and thanks Tandy Bozeman Lake Almanor CA

It would be a violation of Kawi's copyright which is a violation of federal law. I have seen other companies vigorously pursue people who have done this sort of thing and there can be costly legal penalties. I'm in a business which requires that I deal with copyright and trademark attorneys on a regular basis and strongly suggest that you don't want to get involved with duplicating and disseminating copyrighted materials. I have been told that most manufacturers have someone monitoring these types of lists watching for just such activity. I saw an example on a Honda list a couple of years ago where legal action was threatened by Honda against a lister who was offering a parts fiche cd. Regards Kurt Grife
