Any suggestions on reducing the vibration in the handle bars on the KLR650? Will aluminum handlebars help with this? Stephen

Yes....and..... Tire psi, suspension, seat, wheel balance, tire tread...... just about everything you can think of.....effects vibrations.... A double thick front tube is said to stabilise the front gyro more..... Some fill their bars with siliconized weather caulking(like for weather sealing houses). Some add Pro gel grips.........I personally don't like their larger dia........but..........the list goes on....... ....and the beast will still be a beater compared to a large array of the road machines......... What was it packed with? I bought "muffler packing" from a cycle shop, forgot whose label it was under but the glass fibers were pretty coarse, cost $20 or so. I have heard of people using safety wire to matt down the packing to the perforated core. I didn't bother as the packing perfectly fit the 4" supertrapp megaphone on my '78 SR500. The big bulge in the stock pipe would suggest at least one reversal, a typical design of stock Japanese exhausts where they essentially "fold" a much longer exhaust path inside the muffler, which is why a lot of stock pipes give very good low-end power and little noise. They don't generally flow well at high rpm but also don't require repacking. I am guessing one of the reasons the Laser Pro Duro works so well on a KLR is that it's around 6" longer than any other aftermarket exhaust I've seen, and that's not counting any reversals inside the can. Does anyone have more concrete knowledge? I'm working on (debatably) educated guesses here. Devon Jsherlockholmz@... wrote:
