I found out that GIVI security isn't the other day. I left my keys at home on my workbench while opening a new pack of Heroes...all of the day's work and my zip drives were locked in my rear top box on the Connie. No spare keys. Home and back would be an hour minimum. I said to myself, if someone has found a way around this I can find it on the internet. Sure enough, went to Deja.com and did a google search and found someone who said the plastic latch is easily "defeated" with a screwdriver. They were right. It took about 15 seconds. Made my day but also discouraged me about the security I thought I had... Kurt

I'm not surprised. My new E45 popped open once on a bumpy ride. I wonder if there's a way to "beef up" security.

Curious...did you damage the latch when opening? Everything still functional? Thinking that to beef it up any will compromise its relatively good waterproof-ness. One way to beef up the security without compromising the waterproofness would be to put a cable type lock from the handle over the top of the box to a tie down point (grab handles?) on the bike... dat brooklyn bum
