I found an interesting device that could possibly be used on my moto. It
contains the following information on one backlit LCD display:
- Digital compass has both cardinal point and numeric readout
- Outside temp
- Inside temp (may put the inside temp sensor near the engine?)
- Battery voltage
- Battery charge condition
- Visible and audible warning when Black ice conditons (30 - 33 degrees)
- Freeze warning (33 - 37 degrees)
- continuous "electroluminescent backlight"
- plugs into 12v lighter socket
- Cel. or Faren. selectable
- 4.75 x 3.75 x 2.5"
49.99 or 46.99 when you buy 2.
I saw it in a home improvent catalog but it's probably on their website too
www.improvementcatalog.com
Does anyone know of a better or similar item for less? It will have to be
weatherproofed with silicone. What does the list think. It would go perfect
with my custom dashboard. You can view the most recent photo's at:

Many of the items are only velcrod for layout and testing.
Thanks again MotoMark!

Please no offense to the good ones out there.
I purchased a 3 year extened warranty for my KLR but I know realise what a
joke it is. I called to get my bike in for it's 500 mile first service. I
can't get an appointment for over a month. I figured it all out. You get an
etnded. warr. but because it takes soooo long for an appt. you end up only
putting hundreds of miles on the bike instead of thousands. Since you can't
ride the bike nothing will go wrong with it. I'm doing the work myself and
calling the 330 dollar warranty a loss.
One day I WILL learn but not just yet.

Do the maintenance and keep the receipts, the warranty isn't a loss
until it expires without being used, and even then you've enjoyed
trouble free machinery. You don't need the dealer to make the
warranty good, at least with regard to maintenance. Do it yourself.
It's easy.
Your bike will love the attention as the work you do will in most
every case be mo betta than what the dealers do (mostly cuz of what
they don't do).
Dealers Shlemielers, I don't trustem no mo.
