I'm thinking about a Garmin GPS. In the $300 price range I can get a
eTrex Legend, a eTrex Vista or a Garmin III Plus. Any advice would
sure be appreciated.

Jake:
They Safety Switch By-Pass mod is straight forward. Check the

As far as I know, the first Vista still hasn't been delivered. I have a III
and love it, but would like the ability to upload street level and other map
info. I am waiting for the Vista to hi the streets to get more info on it.
Right now, I think it's a hard call.
