My question it this. Does The Great One's instructions for valve
adjustment apply to the 2000 model, and do I need the manual? I own a
2000 KLR650 C6 and am finding it somewhat difficult at times to
determine what is relavent and what isn't. My bike has 800kms on it
and I simply will not pay the $200 for the dealer to inspect. Also do
the gaskets and seals need to be replaced every inspection? Oh, yeah
Eldon mentions "DO NOT remove spark plug" because of automatic
compression release , but then at the end of his artical reminds to
install a new plug. There is NO doubt in my mind Eldon is an
authority
on these bikes, and I'm sure glad there are people like him to help
people like me. Thanks KLR Listers

NO, you don't need the manual (contrary to what everyone will tell
you, but it can't hurt to have one just in case). Eldon's
instructions are pretty adequate on their own.
Yes, you need to remove the spark plug. Blow all the loose dirt out
of the hole prior to removal, I use a piece of wire to loosen it up,
and blow it out with a straw.
