What is the alternator output in watts for a KLR 650 A11. Will it
support a pair of 55 watt running lights?

I believe it puts out 190 watts. I don't use any special electrical
attachments, but I believe that may be asking too much of the
alternator. Just a guess, I'm not an electrical genius, just a
humble dirty old man.
250/650 link & swing arm bearings hints.

Hi All,
Just done both sets of swing arm and Uni track service, thought a few
comments might be worth while for those not yet done this.
Both bikes are 2000 models bought in April 00. 250 has 4500 miles, 650 8000
miles, with mud and dusty off road most week ends.
On the 250 the swing arm and Uni track pivot shafts were badly corrodded and
had to be knocked out. The 650 was OK but begining to show signes of
corrosion.
The 250 link pins had to be knocked out, the link pin/link was also coroding.
The 650's were OK. The bolt together pins are much better sealed against
ingress of dirt and water.
Before starting buy a few outer seals and circlips in case you loose, need.
Get a brass rod about 3/8, for knocking out if needed. Make up a split mandle
from some 3/8 stock or similar about 6 ins long. Just to put some grit paper
in, like a flap wheel, to remove corrosion from the frame surfaces and the
rear engine mount surfaces in the engine case ( use lightly). It works great.
Slacken the rear engine mount bolt first, other wise it will take all the pre
load from from the swing arm and unitrack. Dont take it out. Remove it after
putting back in unitrack shaft and torquing, clean, grease or anti seize
(which ever floats your boat) and re torque. It will be corroded.
Clean, check and regrease (water proof bearing grease)all needle rollers.
Slacken all bolts before jacking.
Remove swing arm first.
Grease all shafts. Every internal surface.
I am sure these comments have been made before, DONT neglect this
maintenance!!!
I would be glad to answer any other queries that some folk might have.
Then enjoy smoother safe riding with the suspension doing it's thing better.
( appologies for tongue in cheek)
Regards
Brian
