I've had something along these lines that drives me crazy. In fact, it's the only thing that I really dislike about the KLR. I will often get something between a rattle and a squeek coming from somewhere around the center of the bike. I can get it occasionally without moving, so I don't think it's the chain. Sometimes I can squeeze my legs in tight and the sound will lighten up, but not always. Varying RPM will sometimes make it stop, but not at any particular RPM; I think it's a function of the change in RPM rather than a specific one. I've speculated at times that this might be the dreaded Tweety Bird, but I don't really think so. My excellent dealer says "Singles vibrate a lot." And that may be the answer. Anyway, I turn to you all for any advice. (There don't seem to be any loose bolts. Someone several months ago suggested it might be the radiator shrouds, but it seems to be coming from behind there.) Hmmm. Have you been able to do anything about it? I did lose a fairing bolt that I replaced with no change in the noise. I'm actually suspicious that the base level of vibration leads to multiple sources of noise. Ralph Ralph E. Hanson 99 KRL 650 http://www.wvu.edu/~journal2
