That is quite a bummer. I had only dreamed of taking one of those trips,
but he was always spoken of well..from riders who had been on his trips. I
sure did enjoy reading about some of those trips, they looked like great
rides, led by someone who really know the area. Too bad. Does anyone know
what happened?

This is truly sad news. I never had a chance to ride with Dan, but talked
with him at length when I was editor of DSN and know lots of riders that took
his tours. He was a remarkable person. Don't know what else to say. I'm
just numb.

Same here...Dan worked overtime to make a trip possible for Kimberly and
I...he seemed to have a sincere interest in the plight of the native Indians
in the Cooper Canyon and a great respect for their traditions. He was
remarkably enthusiastic and a real gentleman. I was looking forward to
meeting him and sharing some hot springs at the BC Canyons rally later this
summer.

Oh man... This is awful. Makes our other "events" seem pretty trivial doesn't it. I know we can't all do this together, but could we all - on our own - have a minute of silence for Dan? Thanks all, Arne

I did not know Dan Rosen, but I rode a little in Baja and hope I can understand
some small part of the way he chose to live his life.
I offer a poem by Edgar Allen Poe that hopefully honors his memory, and the
memory of other fallen riders, in some small way.
Eldorado
Edgar Allen Poe
Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
But he grew old
This knight so bold
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow"
Shadow," said he,
"Where can it be-
This land of Eldorado?"
"Over the Mountains Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied
"If you seek for Eldorado!"

Dan's family is gathered together and appreciates any respects paid.
I've asked for no other details. There'll be time enough for that later.
The impact of his passing is felt even by those of us who only knew
him through this list or by phone. Some might recall his 11 year old
daughter, Rachel posting her excitement about getting to ride in
Copper Canyon with her dad.
I understand that accidents happen. Still it's hard for me to picture
this vibrant man in his mid 40's leaving us so soon. Thank you Dan
for all that you gave me...for all that you gave us.

I think some feel it best to put in a last shot of gibberish they can call
their own...
