[dsn_klr650] introduction nklr

Bravo Fred, I was considering a reply with a bit less Tact. But until I know for sure if I can make it to UT, I better keep my keyboard quiet. My best friend/neighbor bought himself a 97 KLR with 3400 miles. I have been smiling since yesterday when I heard the news. We are doing the 3K service this weekend and I'm gonna start talking him into the UT trip. He's not netted so I'm gonna set up a free email account and then print out the digest version for him each day. He's gotta learn from somebody, should be you all. I've got all kinds of things to spend his money on as well. :) He's a bit scared on that one, especially knowing what I've put into mine. He won't let me dissasemble it and repaint it to match mine though. laterZ Dash Who's smiling at you for two today. WHOoo HOOO At 07:55 AM 4/27/00 -0700, Fred Hink wrote:

Mark, I'm not sure there is a detailed account in the archives because the procedure is straight forward. Just follow the diagram in the manual. You've already figured out the main pitfall, rounding out the various bolts. This is especially true of the bolts on the links as they're shallow. I cleaned the bearing once with kerosene; the other time I did it I cleaned with mineral spirits. Lube with the moly stuff the manual states and good old grease on the long swingarm bolt. You may need a breaker bar and a friend to loosen and then torque down the bolts. Bogdan
