Get it welded, then stik it in your spare parts drawer as a backup and buy an IMS, which is about unbreakable. The OEM shift lever is one of those little things you have to replace on the KLR, the sooner the better. -tom '96 KLR 650

Project Frankenstein progressed a little further over the weekend. The mini-fairing is gone, the twin headlight thingy is now on. One of the best mods I've made. No more turbulence and buffeting, just the clean wooosh of air going by. The rear turn signals have been swapped for mini stalks and the SupeTrapp IDS2 Quiet has been installed. SuperTrapp quality leaves much to be desired. Fit is still dicey, but there are no leaks and it saves a ton of weight. Also very quiet with 8 discs (all that is recommended on the Quiet Series BTW) Seems to flow better than the Laser from a seat-of-the-pants evaluation. All that is left now is to mount of the knobbies and she's ready for Moab. Gino
