The other day one of the screws holding the windscreen to the fairing fell off. The next morning the second screw (out of three) fell off. Apparently, the plastic screw seats disintegrated due to vibration. The bike is '00 with 3K miles...
I took off the last screw and stowed the windscreen away. Eureka! The bike actually handles noticably better now, esp. at higher speeds and when there is a lot of wind buffet, e.g. on a freeway with trucks around. The front end feels more planted. The screen is not going back on.
