Haven't calibrated my American KLR speedo to GPS. But in comparison to a Honda SuperHawk (up to 20% error near as we can guess it), it's way closer to reality... VFR is fairly close to reality (probably 5% error) and if I could keep up with him on the straights, then maybe I'd know... but when we meet up for lunch, we've got approximately the same trip mileage. Compared to my CBR, I'd say it's got around the same amount of error. But the one true way to know is by GPS. And the U.S. military finally quit scrambling the signal today (thanks, Tom, for the link)!!! ---o&>o--- Sarah Barwig sarah@...> According to what my GPS says, my Canuck KLR's speedo is roughly > 10% out. 100 km/h indicated is actually about 90 km/h. [dsn_klr650] canuck speedo error
I ride with GPS all the time. The error is about 4-5mph (7-8kph) at nearly
all speeds on my US A12. I would have thought it would be a "gain" error
more than an "offset" error, but no.

According to what my GPS says, my Canuck KLR's speedo is roughly 10% out. 100 km/h indicated is actually about 90 km/h. Like you, I wish this was a bit closer to the truth. I wonder if the US models have the same prob, or if it is typical of our Metric speedo's. If anyone knows of a fix for this, please pass it on. Cheers, D.

I'm not trying to knock any online map services, but make sure you compare their directions with an atlas or something...a lot of times I've gotten directions online that aren't 100% the best route. Other times, they've been great...a good tool but don't throw the maps away yet! IMHO of course. dat brooklyn bum _______________________________________________________ Get 100% FREE Internet Access powered by Excite Visit http://freelane.excite.com/freeisp> 1) goto http://www.mapquest.com > 2) click on "driving directions" > 3) enter your starting address location > 4) enter 2970 Desert Road Moab, Utah 84532 for the destination address > 5) click on "get directions" >
