tank pannier rack, tool-box, money-hiding spot

Hello!
There are two things on my mind nowadays:
1. building a tank pannier rack and fix a Pelican 1400 case on each side of
my KLR650 gas tank (to have lockable and crash-proof storage in front of my
knees)
2. building/buying a tool-box that sits down and possibly close to the
engine. I thought of
* a bash plate that already has a sealed tool-compartment (I would
hate see my tools rust after several river-crossings), or
* a separate sealed tool-box that sits in front of the engine, fixed
on the frame (I checked the archive, and found two interesting ideas and
I'll implement one of them, if there are no better ideas), or
* a swing-arm mounted sealed tool-box, readily available from a
dealer.
3. I need to find one or preferably more safe places on my A13 where I can
hide cash and traveler's checks.
I'm sure, the Collective will shine on me with new ideas.
Cheers,
