sidestand safety switch

My side stand safety switch has been giving me fits lately - with the sidestand up it was still cutting out the engine. Rather than try to short out the connection via spade connector as mentioned on the DSN website, I just disconnected the wire from the actual safety switch itself by removing the cotter pin and then the pin connector - so that the switch is always in the 'up' position. Anyone see any potential problems down the road with my fix? Thanks!
