If there are any easy quick tricks, I would appreciate it, else I will bring it to a shop ... EXTREME care must be used in removing bearings, they must come out and be reinstalled without cocking the bearing. The best way to remove the bearing is to heat the wheel hub with a bernz-o-matic torch, running the flame around the outside 1" the bearing race area for several minutes, and then removing the bearing, preferably with a puller setup (i.e. metal tube and threaded rod). If you must drive the bearing out, try to insert a small, flat metal plate against the inner surface of the bearing and use a drift to drive the bearing out. To reinstall the bearing, grease the bearing, coat the outer race with 'never-seize', wrap it in foil or clear plastic wrap & put it in the freezer for several hours ... reheat the hub (as above) and carefully replace the bearing. Occasionally, heat alone will cause the bearing to fall out when the wheel is turned upside-down. > [snip] ... where are some good places to get bearings in Atlanta ... Check the yellow pages under BEARINGS. There should be several suppliers in any major metro area. You will need to give them the numbers stamped on the outer bearing race to cross-reference. Go with the best quality replacement you can get, it'll still be less expensive than the dealer's price. Once you have the replacement bearings, you may find it easier to pay a good machinist or independent m/c specialty shop to do the job. That way it won't be as aggravating as clutch work ...
