Real dual sport riding? If by this you mean: 1. Using my KLR for 400 + mile days on the interstate 2. Using my KLR to explore fire roads 3. Using my KLR to run with sport bikes in the canyons 4. Using my KLR to cruise around town with my fianc on the back 5. Using my KLR to ride tight trails 6. Using my KLR to ride Colorado's jeep trails 7. Using my KLR to commute then yeah, I do "real" dual sport riding, as do most of the people on this list. -----Original Message----- From: beemerbigdawg@... He said there was going to be a rally in Utah this year. Do you guys do real dual sport riding at this rally? I know most of you ride KLRs so I suspect not. I will be trailering my BMW R1150GS there to do some riding. Any information would be appreciated. OK, Ok, sports fans here they are, Wow, a lot of interest in the race out there. very good to see!! Heres how the story goes.... (Thanks for letting me post Arne - I was geeting inundated with requests). My dealer was awaiting a new F650GS for a customer and BMW sent this by mistake, wow, whatta mistake. Some guy in the back of Blackfoot Motorsports receives the crate and proceeds to crack it open, he finds inside, quote 'what the hell is this used peice of s--t', (sportbike head). Menwhile another fellow walks in the back and craps himself and starts running around the shop in a feverish panic, yelling' and a screamin' about Saincts bike showing up. (2) minutes later BMW calls to see if they received the wrong bike. they did. I guess they were in a panic cause' this bike was to be at a show in Germany right now with Sainct and the bike. The bike that showed up at the show was the general F650GS, a lot of p.o. Duetsch right now. So all said and done, the bike is due to be shipped back out today and probably never to be seen again, but man, it pays to shop at the dealer once in awhile so a guy can get calls like 'Carl, you should maybe get down here, Saincts bike showed up by mistake-no-I am not joking' Anyhow, the photos are attached and I seriously cant believe that this thing is in Calgary, Alberta. Such the wrong place for this machine except the few of us that know what the hell motorcycling is all about |(except the guy that is trailering his 1150GS to Moab????) - another story all together. description: It was unbeleivably light, 1000 km fuel range, all carbon fibre and billeted aluminum bits (skid plate was even carbon fibre). The seat was amazing. Full leather and Suede soooo comfortable. The thing is so trick is amazing. worth ...probably about 100,000. So much R&D, nothing is stock. All handcrafted, made to fit kinda thing. The swingarm is all thick thick aluminum with heavy thick welds. Dual exhaust, super short shifter, touratech roll map that you operate by pressing two buttons with your left hands thumb (to scroll up and down) that are mounted so that your hands never leave the bars. Incredible. Michellin desert's for rubber, looked easily street ridable. Data IN / Data Out inputs/outputs for diagnostics and the GPS mounts on the fake tank up front. Not much taller than the KLR. Maybe another 2-3 inchs. cool cool cool. enjoy. carl. Transera International Logistics Ltd. Suite 102, 6715-8th Street N.E.
