Tom, you can go to your dedicated cycle shop and pick up the Kreem kit and use everything but the liner treatment. Generally the drill goes something like empty the tank of any gas...Fill it with a couple of quarts of solvent, pour in a couple of handfuls of nuts and bolts. Swish like crazy for a long while. Pour off and filter the fluids and nuts and bolts. Pour it back in....keep doing that until no more rust is knocked off. I've spent a week doing this stage (a couple of times after work). Now rinse the tank with soap and water. Pull out the petcocks and any other aluminum parts and make a temporary gasket to block them. The acid that is coming will devour the petcocks and bolts. Add the acid according to the mixture recommended and let it soak. I think they say for about 20 minutes but on badly rested tanks I've sometimes soaked them for hours. The inside of the tank will turn to a nice gray color. When she's done. Rinse, rinse, rinse. Now empty the tank of all water and get it dry. They include an acetone product to get all the water out. That's it...I've shied away from using the Latex liner. From now on you need to keep the tank full with gas when it is in storage or it will rust up real quick especially if you're in a humid climate. Kurt

There is a product named Kreem is a three step complete system, to clean and protect the inside of any steel tank. I learn of this in the Tucker Rocky catalogue, and saw the job in a couple of HD tanks, seems to work very well. Hope this helps. J Luis V zquez Gayt n Puerto Vallarta, M xico

Maybe the CV piston rubber diaphragm isn't seated right. BTW, if the bike is warmed up and you put the choke on then the bike _should_ run rough and maybe a bit smokey. Mister_T
