[dsn_klr650] parallel search programs (nklr)

A recurring question on this list is: "Where can I find a link for
[whatever]?" On the off chance there are those among us who have yet to
discover the benefits of parallel search programs (search programs that
launch several popular search engines simultaneously), may I suggest my past
favorites: Inference Find or GoHip, or my most recent favorite: Google.
Links to all can be found on my personal start page.

Google Rules! I saw a little mention of it in Playboy, of all places, about 9
months ago and have been spreading the word. I work with some pretty savvy
geeks and many have been impressed and have adopted it as their favorite search
engine.

I read the articles....

There's words in Playboy? I read DSN when I want articles. Thanks Fred
for that December copy, I mailed my check on Wednesday to get subscribed.
I can't believe I've been able to breathe, eat and sleep without it.
Google is the best.... I've been using for a while now. Another one that
used to be petty good was Metacrawler, but the advertising seems to slow
down the loads a bit now and I have T1. I try to use a couple of different
parallel spiders when I really need info. Not always the same sites come
up.
My Uncle in Law, who is a computer geek, uses a searching program that
comes resident on his MAC (G3 I think) Searchbot, or something un-original
like that. Anyway he says that in much less time he is able to do a more
thorough search of site content, (not just keywords in metatags) of the
entire web. I can't even imgine something that HUGE. Wish I could get it
on my dinosaur machine.

Who's not willing to switch to a MAC just for surfing the net.
Though a Big Mac sounds utterly disgusting, greasy and quite in line with
lunch plans today.

I use "WebFerret" (
http://www.ferretsoft.com/netferret/). A client side search engine that can be configured and is really fast, and free.
