Eric, There are numerous ad-blocking utilities available for free on
the internet. You can download the software by going to ZDNET or
CNET websites. I have just recently installed "AdSubtract" free
software. Their website is:

You might want to check out their "pro" version ($20-30) that offers
additional internet privacy & security features.
I'm not going to be a hypocrite & moralize about cutting off the
income from good sites like egroups. I usually run with the blocking
software disabled & only enable it when i'm at sites with lots of
ads or when i want to print a web page.
ZDNET -> www.zdnet.com
CNET -> www.cnet.com
goto their downloads area & use the search function to find
'ad block'. These sites have hundreds of free & shareware programs.
