I had a big chunking problem with Duros. Big chunks of tread came off the rear tire. Tires were not overloaded, not underinflated. Just a bad lot or maybe a bad product. Lots of other people on the list have had good luck with them but I'm not going to buy another set no matter how inexpensive they are. I'll spend the money for TKC-80s (my favorite dual sport tire) or D606s (my favorite dual sport tire for rocks and sand). The 761 is a street tire, quite unlike the TKCs. I don't know what the 903/904 is. If you want a dual purpose tire that won't cost as much to run as the Continentals, try the D606, k270 or Cheng Shin 858, all cheaper and longer-lasting than the TKC80.

Ya what Jud said. K270's will howl, and the front will wear funny, but take it off and flip it when the knobs start to taper. ( Non-directional tire ) Have a 606 on the front now and quite surprised how well mannered it is on pavement for being a.... well knobby. Never tried a 858 but have heard most like them. Of course these are Dual Purporse tires, if your a pavement commando, I would look at different tires. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Personal experience leads me away from Duros. Bought a set, can't recall which model but they were a street oriented dual sport tire, and within the first three hundred miles of use, the rear began to chunk horribly. This was a few years ago so maybe things have changed. Maybe not. da Vermonster

I went through several sets of IRC GP110s on my KLR with no complaints. Sold it with a set of GP-1s that weren't bad, either. When it came time for a trip, I always spooned on a set of TKC-80s and never regretted it. Great tire, just a little pricey to wear out going to work and back with weekend rides on fireroads. __Arden
