winter ride

Post by mark ward » Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:10 pm

Hey Keith   Bump Starts , but not with battery. Not all tenders fully charge, some do NOT shut off, and can DAMAGE the battery, and some BATTERIES, do NOT fully charge with a "tender". I found out the hard way that a 2amp. tender is NOT advised, for an Odyssey battery. (2amp will not fully charge it.)   Check your voltage at the battery and if wet style, check the water level. (NEVER use tap water, distled only.)   Mark (W. Mi.)

I can ride in temps in the low 40's and stay comfortable. The 08 KLR starts ok, in the 40's, with the choke on. However, in the low 30's, the bike just won't start. Seems to turn over normally. Pushing it down the hill will start it and run fine. New battery last summer, battery tender connected, voltage ok,fresh fuel, headlight is bright. So,...what am I missing? Thanks in advance.
