This new feature (attaching pictures to e-mail only) effective splits the group into two 'tribes'; those storing pictures with e-mail and those using the web and not seeing anything, now or in the future. I always saw that the web based forum as a more compact and separate package from my other, more direct and conversational e-mail accounts. I'm assuming that about 50% us will have no idea what you, the other 50%, are talking about. Kind of too bad. I'll miss the good old days when we where all on the same page. Don R100, A6F

This decision may have needlessly split the group, but I read posts on webmail and I can see the attachments.  I have set restrictions so that I only "see" those attachments from the posts I choose, after they are scanned and download.  Otherwise all I see is the paperclip and "file attached." I have more bandwidth than I can use, both at work and at home, and I have no trouble reading posts on the browser of my Verizon Blackberry, with or without attachments even in the deep woods, so I'm happy with the change in policy.. Of course, mine is not the only view. While it has  been years since I last used dial-up,by taking advantage of browser settings,I don't see a need for stress and strife by those who do.  Your web experience need not be much different (slower) than ever, although you retain the option of an enhanced, albeit slower, experience. Those with broadband have those same options.  It seems a win-win to me. Does someone--Fred?--have statistics of modem vs broadband members?  Kenneth Mitchell

Thank Goodness that is now clear. I cannot tell you how jealous my three KLR-wives are when they hear I am/have been looking at other KLR's. This near-cure of photo attachment (I read the list on the web) will end all further jealousy problems created by polygamous ownership--as long as each bike knows I am content at three and not out shopping for some newer trophy KLR 'relationship'. maybe. I hear KLR owners in Utah have less hassles with polygamous ownership. That's what I heard. revmaaatin. who knows of a 3-owner 2004 KLR650 with

Correct. Either set up "Digest" mode (one big email w/out attachemnts) or just log onto the website and read the messages. Even with broadband I have always read them online one at a time, this way I can skip messages I do not want to read. Without filling up a inbox with a trillion messages about oil. Do kinda wish the attachments would link on the website, but oh well. Online it shows the attachment, but can not see it, its just a empty link button. Dooden A15 Green Ape

Heck even when he does crash he normally make up lost time. Yes that does look like a really nice bike.

Jeff, You should look into Wild Blue satellite internet. I live out in th boondocks, so I had dial up also. Satellite isn't as fast as DSL or cable, but it is 10 times faster than dialup. (not exaggerating). All you need is a clear shot to the SSW sky. You can get great deals on installation due to the economy, and monthly cost is $49. Dump your land line and go to cell phone. I have faster internet, and now that I don't need a land line, I spend $20 LESS a month overall. There is also Hughes.net satellite.   Rick A17 From: Jeff Saline To: moabmc@... Fred, KLR Listers,   Thanks for the note about the change allowing folks to post small motorcycle specific attachments to e-mails.   I'm one of the guys on dial up and I sure hope folks abide by that criteria although I'm not sure that small to a dial up user is the same as small to a person on high speed internet.   I think it will be more important than ever now for folks replying to messages to make sure they remove attachments so we don't receive the same information multiple times.   I only use the list via e-mail and if the bandwidth gets to be too much I can see it hampering my ability to download and process list traffic.   Should be interesting seeing how this works.   Best, Jeff Saline ABC # 4412  South Dakota Airmarshal Airheads Beemer Club www.airheads. org The Beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota 75 R90/6, 03 KLR650, 79 R100RT   . ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ ___ Manufacturer- Direct Hardwood Floors Never pay retail again.
