electric problems w/2001

Got it! Tightened ground saturday afternoon after work. Started right up. Now testing the battery , but that looks like that was the problem. Simple - exasperating. Thanks for your tips fellas. BTW: Click the link below to see where I was. http://fms.ws/5-rqY/41.6781N/113.15364W Craig

Turned the key, pushed the button...small click, then nothing. No start, no horn, no lights. Bump started, ran fine. Lights and horn weak at first, but eventually charged. Stopped again. Strong lights, loud horn. Turned it off. switch on - dead. Didn't touch starter. > > Any ideas? >

electric problems w/2001

Perhaps should start a new thread, but my issue is very similar, so... A couple weeks ago I started experiencing some erratic starting behavior on my A15. The battery was getting tired anyway, so I replaced it. For a while all seemed fine - took a 3-day camping trip, no problems. Then I started experiencing the same issues. When pushing the start button, I would get the dreaded "click-click", or it would start fine. Battery voltage would seem OK, and load/hold tests seemed OK as well. I tested starting/charging/ignition systems per the Clymer manual, all components tested OK. So I started suspecting an intermittent short. To that end, I took apart most of the wiring. The one piece I'm most suspicious of at this point is the brown wire circuit that runs from the battery (10-amp fuse) to the ignition switch. Between those points, per the wiring diagram, there are connections for the horn, front brake switch, and turn signal relay. I've disconnected all those items, and I'm still reading @ 100 ohms between the fuse and the connector at the ignition switch (disconnected). Surely that can't be right? Can any of the electrical gurus tell me if I'm even in the ballpark? A better way to test? At this point, there is no response at all when pushing the starting button, so I can't test the battery draw when starting. I did test the starter switch itself with an ohmmeter, and it appears to be functional. Thanks, Dan (long-time member, but haven't posted in a very long time!)
