Mike- Thanks for the tip, I'll report back on how the repair went. And thank all of you who contributed other ideas (I may still end up needing them!). -JWF

vista-cruise mounting problem

Doesn't matter if it can be fixed, just that you aint moving until you fix it.. Bashed in is bashed in when you are 120 miles from the nearest road and trying to beat the rest of the pack to the camp ground and the beer :-) And yes, the roaming rally route for 2011 looks like hits a point 120 + miles from anything. With the Throttlemeister, the whole weight turns (at least the ones I've seen). With the Kaoko, the weight is just like the original although it appears to be made of more durable material. The functional bit is inboard of the fixed weight and is made of Delrin. Nothing would break the Kaoko that wouldn't have destroyed the stock weight. Since the functional bit is much softer than the fixed bit, even if the worst happened and it got ripped to shreds, it shouldn't hurt the metal threads, and the Delrin part is replaceable. ************************************************************ This communication, including attachments, is for the exclusive use of addressee and may contain proprietary, confidential and/or privileged information. vista-cruise mounting problem

I don't think you understand what I was saying. If it's broken the cruise won't work, but the throttle will work just fine. It's exactly like the stock weight, only with threads and a Delrin nut inboard of the weight. If you crash and it's trashed, absolute worst case, you remove one screw and it's wholly stock. There is no modification required to install it whatsoever. Here's the installation video. I don't see how the Kaoko could leave you stranded at all.
