nklr - gps recommendations

Post by Jim Fortner » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:43 pm

I've used the Garmion 60C and Cx with a Ram mount on the KLR for years. Wired and battery. Use a 276C on the bigger bikes. Works good lasts a long time.

That's a smokin deal on a great GPS! I paid over $100 just for the MapSource software alone. Also, the 60CSx has a very strong antenna with quick acquisition capabilities. That's important! It's durable, water resistant and good for off road. If you're using it for any off road stay away from touch screens. I don't use direct power just AA rechargeable batteries. When charged up they give me couple days of use and also monitor the battery power so I know when to replace or bring another set. For geo-caching you'd be hard pressed for find a better unit that works for each application IMO.
