"DAH" must be age don't pick up on things as quick i used to,"Apology's",i had a KLR keep up to me for a while when i was on a road trip on my Moto Guzzi Le Mans this summer up here in British Columbia Canada he was quite hard to shake for a while and i thought we were joined by some kind of energy field, but when i pressed the issue he did start to drop back aways. > > We met later at some road works and i complemented him on his riding and told him i to had a KLR,he liked my Guzz to,i belive if i remember correctly he was from down your way,he had probably done the Alaska thing. > > Stu. > > > > Date: Mon, 18 Oct 2010 10:33:50 -0700 > From: ldodge3082@... > Subject: RE: [DSN_KLR650] Kenda K761 Final Mileage Report,"Speed"! > To: mac-doo@... > > > > > > Stu, the posting was tongue-in-cheek. It was an attempt to expose the possible exaggeration of a rider who 'threw off knobs' from his Kenda 270's on the street. A lot like the postings we've seen where a KLR rider was 'schooling sport bike riders in the twisties'. Yeah, sure you did. . . . In your fantasy's. > > > --- On Mon, 10/18/10, stuart sullivan wrote: > > > From: stuart sullivan > Subject: RE: [DSN_KLR650] Kenda K761 Final Mileage Report,"Speed"! > To: dsn_klr650@yahoogroups.com > Date: Monday, October 18, 2010, 10:10 AM > > > > > > Who the hell is doing 130 -135 on a freekin KLR even if it could go that fast,i suppose the test could have been done on a High end KTM or Beemer even so that would still be pushing it,we've been through the Kenda question before so I'm not even going to go there, just a thought. > > Stu. > > > > > To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com; nakedwaterskier@... > From: ldodge3082@... > Date: Mon, 18 Oct 2010 09:28:02 -0700 > Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] Kenda K761 Final Mileage Report > > > > > > > > > I read a related account that found the 270's to be inadequate as a street tire. Apparently around 130-135 mph the heavier knobs on a fresh tire are severely stressed and on a hot day some knobs flew off. The resulting imbalance and vibration reportedly forced a reduction in cruising speed. While the source was impeachable, it is a report. > Off-road capabilities were not mentioned but in my experience, mostly off road, they are a good choice. > Wondering? > Lee > > > --- On Mon, 10/18/10, Jeffrey wrote: > > > From: Jeffrey > Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Kenda K761 Final Mileage Report > To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com > Date: Monday, October 18, 2010, 7:52 AM > > > > I liked my Kenda 761s also but I didn't like the Kenda 270s that were more dirt/knobbier; the knobs flew off the rear on the street. A dual sport tire should be able to handle both and the 270s don't. > > Jeffrey #3 >

speed tires etc.
I've had my 06 KLR up to 95 once, as indicated on my gps. I was riding stock Mefos then. Fred now sells high speed, 70/30 Mefo tires that have been clocked at 150 on a KLR. My next tire change, I'm going for the high speed tire. Nothing like a super fast KLR for blowing away those sport bikes in the twisties.
