A civilized society is judged by how well it takes care of its less fortunate members.
With the standard of living we enjoy in the USA, our lack of comprehensive healthcare is nothing short of a national disgrace.
Furthermore, I believe the selfish money-grubbing mindset that the opponents of a nationalized health care system display are shameful.
Not to mention, self-defeating.
Ask yourself this: If we had a comprehensive health care system in place, would emergency rooms still be used for health concerns that should be handled (or more likely totally avoided) at routine doctor's visits?
Some people just don't get it, I guess.
And as far as churches, I think they should be taxed like the corporations that they really are.
Why anyone needs an imaginary friend in the sky to tell them how to live their life, let alone feels the need to "convert"/kill those that don't agree with their fairy tale book, is totally beyond me.
Bring on the godless socialism!
Thanks

Mr Critchley has subtly and appropriately admonished us. It is time to return to our mutual interest thereby stopping this thread which divides us. So let us act like Gentlemen and move on to 'monotrack vehicle' related topics.

Hi Stu- I am in heated agreement with many of your points in the top 1/2; IE caring for the wounded, regardless of how it happened. Now, that paragraph starting with churches. smile. Would you be surprised if my 'experience' was different than what you have suggested? shrug. We are all on a line of continuum = birth to grave, and most who post and read here are less than 40 years away from discovering who is right/wrong in such issues. Not that many are swayed either way as we rant, pontificate and bloviate, cough. (who me?) but I do propose this: Throw your leg over that pig and come to SD and lets go riding this summer.... Several here can attest, continuum travelers are always welcome.... or was it 'characters welcome?' Conversely, I have an open invitation to a KLR presently located in the other SD (San Diego) and I 'expect' (=hope) you will take me down a dirty path if I make it that far! revmaaatin. the snow has slowed down, but here comes the rain. #ygrps-yiv-685571299 p {margin:0;}I already pay enough dues in this society. $24,500 just in federal income tax alone last year. That's should be more than enough... especially when counted with 8 years of military service and a permanent disability to show for it.
It's time for those who do not prosper as much to get off their posteriors and earn their own prosperity and quit taking mine.
