klr650 parts for sale

Post by mikeypep » Wed Apr 15, 2009 3:46 pm

I have a Clymers manual, a good stock muffler (non-tweety) and a stock front brake disc for sale. About 10,000 miles on the brake and 15000 on the muffler. Both are in excellent shape, replaced with aftermarket parts. I'd like to get $100 for the lot. Send me an email at Peplinski1@... it you're interested

cylinder out of round...

Hi Jeff, I know that turned into an octane discussion for the most part but I wanted to address one thing about the piston that you found to be oval-shaped and thought that might be a wear thing. Everything I've ever learned about pistons are that they're slightly oval (and for that matter, barrel-shaped when viewed from the side) when at room temperature, so that during operation, they're round. It used to be an issue with steel inserts in the piston having different rates of thermal expansion around the pin area than the alumimum... not sure what drives that today. The barrel thing... well, the piston top is much hotter than the skirts so that's still in place as well. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
