These are 100% street tires, however, not 90/10 dual-purpose tires. ed A17

I've done a "modified" version of the mototune on my last four bikes and never had any engine or oil issues... Basically, I keep it under the manufacturers recommended RPM limits for the first 100 miles and do an oil change at 100. After that, it gets the following treatment up to 1000 miles... Just ride it, but... don't "whack" the throttle. Use a fair amount of torque without letting it bog down or redline, take it up to high RPMs and back it down regularly, don't let it sit at one constant RPM (vary the throttle constantly). Oil changes at 300 miles, 600 miles and 1000 miles. Then, it's done with all break-in behaviors, follow the recommended service. My FJR, FZ1 and KLR have all gotten this treatment. The FJR has 40,000 miles on it and still hasn't needed a valve adjustment. The KLR doesn't burn oil and runs great (except for the recent missing exhaust, but that's got nothing to do with it). The FZ1 had some serious engine tuning done to it (it was a dedicated hooligan bike), so it doesn't really count, but it never gave me a lick of trouble. My previous Seca II also had this treatment and it's been through three owners so far and none of them have had any engine issues at all. I'll keep using this method until someone can come up with a better one. The full-on Mototune method kinda scares me and I know I don't know enough about engine internals to verify that it works and that I'm not screwing the pooch. :S --Jonathan "smthng" Kalmes Springfield, VA 2005 Yamaha FJR1300ABS - "Blue Bayou" 2006 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon - "Teflon" 2008 Kawasaki KLR 650 - It's here, but it hasn't earned a name yet. ;) http://smthng.info "Shake well... some settling is natural."
